ADU Permits Don't Have to Be a Mystery

By Lori | CityPaks

Permitting is probably one of the least exciting parts of building an ADU — and one of the areas homeowners worry about most.

I understand why.

There are drawings, requirements, reviews, corrections, inspections and jurisdiction-specific processes.

If you've never built something before, it can feel like you're suddenly expected to learn an entirely new language.

You shouldn't have to become a permitting expert just to add space to your home.

CityPaks helps guide homeowners through the planning and permitting process rather than simply handing them a building concept and sending them off to figure out the rest.

There is an important distinction, though:

No responsible builder controls the city.

Review times, permit requirements, inspections, utilities and site-specific issues can affect a project.

I won't promise something that isn't ours to control.

What we can do is be responsive, help you understand what is happening, prepare the project appropriately and help move it through the process.

For me, that personal guidance is an important part of CityPaks.

You should know what the next step is, who is handling it, and who you can call when you have a question.
